Betty Joyce Pratt, 86, of Aztec, passed from this life on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, in Farmington. She was born on Sept. 17, 1929, in Littlefield, Texas to Robert L. and Bessie E. Hendrix.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who made sure her family grew to love the Lord as much as she did. She was an artist who loved to paint and play the guitar. She was an antique hunter and collector. She loved the outdoors; fishing and camping with her family. She loved to tell family stories about her four boys and times when she was growing up. She never met a stranger; always wanted to know your name and usually remembered it. She loved to cook for her family and did an excellent job of it. Betty was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She loved her church family, talked about them all the time, and was very disappointed when she could not be there.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Merle, Bill and Nathan; sisters, Catherine, Bessie, Florence and lneze.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Pratt; sons, Butch (Cheryl), David (Pam), Michael (Debbie), Tim (Cindy) Pratt; grandchildren, Daniel, Cami, Jennifer, Melissa, Tucker, Amber, Trevor and Brian; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept 19, at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Bob Schlauger. Interment will be Aztec Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Butch Pratt, David Pratt, Michael Pratt, Tim Pratt, Trevor Pratt, Tucker Pratt and John Cox. Honorary Pallbearers will be Daniel Pratt and Brian Denton.
We would like to thank Dr. Singleton, all of the physicians and nurses at San Juan Regional Medical Center for the outstanding care they showed her and her family. She may have been short in stature but a giant at heart and faith in the Lord. Funeral arrangements are with Farmington Funeral Home, 2111 W. Apache St., 505-325-2211. Those who wish to express condolences may do so at farmingtonfuneral.com.
