Alice J. Doerr, 81, of 540 Protzman Road, died Monday at her residence following an illness.
Born May 22, 1911 in Summit Township, she was the daughter of Albert J. and Elizabeth Geon Portman who established the Portman Dairy in 1906.
She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler. She was also a member of the Women's Council of the church, Phase II, and the Catholic Daughters of America. She also had belonged to the Council of Republican Women.
Mrs. Doerr was an active volunteer with many organizations throughout her lifetime, including the Girl Scouts, Meals-on-Wheels and the Catholic Daughters of America Drum and Bugle Corps.
Surviving are four daughters, Ann Kirch of Butler, Gretchen Cohen of Elizabeth Township in Allegheny County, Susan Munsell of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Jeannie O'Donnell of Butler; a son, Judge Thomas J. Doerr of Butler; a stepson, John P. Doerr Jr. of Miami, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, J. Paul Doerr, died Dec. 21, 1982. She was also preceded in death by three brothers.

DOERR-Friends of Alice J. Doerr of 540 Protzman Road, who died Monday, April 5, 1993, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday from St. Peter Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Rudolph Silvers, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery. Arrangments by Geibel.
The Women's Council of St. Peter will meet at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday at the church to recite the rosary.
