She was born on June 16, 1928, in Fluvanna County, the daughter of the late Wiley Young Anderson and Mattie Irene (Haden) Anderson. She was married to the late John Marvin Roberts, who preceded her in death on April 23, 1975. In
addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville and Benjamin Anderson. Sara worked for a number of years as a bank teller at several banks throughout the local area. She had also worked for several years at the University Bookstore in
Charlottesville. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Scottsville where she was a member of the Choir and served on the Altar Guild. She was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by two children, Dr. Marvin D. Roberts and wife, Elizabeth of Versailles, Kentucky and Sandra R. Deaton and husband, John of Mt. Vernon, Indiana; three brothers, Robert L. Anderson and wife, Edna and Haden B. Anderson, all of Scottsville and Everett W. Anderson of Suffolk, Virginia; two grandchildren, Tony and Michael Roberts; a great grandchild, Hayden Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 PM, Thursday evening, February 16, 2012 at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home in Scottsville. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 17, 2012 in the Thacker Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Peter Way officiating.
