Myrtle Faye Brooks, 87, of Fairdealing, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Mrs. Brooks, daughter of Raymond and Myrtle (Mitchell) McPheeters, was born April 9, 1929, in Flatwoods, Missouri. She had been a bus driver for the St. Louis Special School District. Mrs. Brooks enjoyed fishing, especially on the Current River and had been a member of the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church for the past 23 years.

On June 22, 1947, she was married to William “Don” Brooks in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and he survives.

Also surviving are 5 children: LaDonna Faye Cooper of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Judy Marie Smith of Poplar Bluff, Joyce Elaine Craven of Fairdealing, and David Ray Brooks and Ronald Edwards Brooks, both of Doniphan, Missouri; and 7 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Elaine Pickens.

Visitation for Mrs. Brooks will be Friday evening, September 23, 2016, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will take place Saturday afternoon, September 24, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Russell Chitwood officiating. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Springhill Cemetery Fund.
