Sheriff who arrested Johnny Cash-Former Walker County Georiga Sheriff Ralph Jones who served from 1965 till 1985, passed away at his home Friday December 15, 2006. He is best known as the Sheriff who, in LaFayette Georiga, arrested Johnny Cash at a young age in 1967 on drug charges. Years later Mr. Cash said he owed his career, and his life to Sherriff Jones. In return Johnny Cash once preformed a benefit concert and raised $25,000.00 for LaFayette County High School's field house and band room. Years later, Mr. Jones was among the guests on an episode of the television program "This is your Life" dedicated to Mr. Cash. Mr. Cash wrote of his encounter with Sheriff Jones in his autobiography "The man in Black".
