Barney Farley, Sr., 69, of Chattaroy, died yesterday at a local hospital. He was a retired miner. Barney was born March 30, 1890, at Elk Creek. He was a veteran of World War I.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna Farley; three daughters, Mrs. Sarah Staten of Williamson and Mrs. Money Muncy and Mrs. Borenzia Anderson both of Chattaroy; a son, Homer M. of Chattaroy; nine step children; two brothers, George Farley and E. F. Farley, both of Elk Creek and a sister, Mrs. Lucinda Curry of Elk Creek.

Funeral services were conducted at the Freewill Baptist Church at Elk Creek and burial followed in the Farley-(Curry) Cemetery at Elk Creek with Ball Funeral home in charge.

It has also been called the Farley-Curry Cemetery, the Curry-Farley Cemetery, the Lower Farley Cemetery and the Farley Cemetery. The cemetery is behind the Elk Creek Freewill Baptist Church on Billy Curry Branch. There is another Farley Cemetery at Five Mile Branch on Elk Creek.
