Alexandra "Ali" Katopodis, age 71, of Schererville, IN passed away at home on Friday, September 23, 2016 after a courageous three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Alex Glavas in 1975; parents: George and Georgia Kollintzas, and unforgettable brother, Tony Kollintzas in 1970. Ali is survived by her loving husband, Zois Katopodis; three beloved daughters: Toni Glavas, Georgianne Glavas, and Pamela (Sammy) Boufis; cherished grandchildren: Yianni and Faye Boufis; sister, Mary (Angelo) Cappas; brother, Frank (Joanna) Kolintzas; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, Koumbari, and Godchildren. Ali grew up in Indiana Harbor and graduated from East Chicago Washington High School, Class of 1962. She owned and operated Alexandra's Beauty Salon in East Chicago and the Olympia Restaurant along with her husband Zois. Ali also worked at The Sherwood Club, and retired from the Lake County Government Center after 22 years of service. She was a lifelong member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church of East Chicago/Schererville, the Ladies Philoptochos Society, and the Pan-Arcadian Society. Funeral services at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 77th Ave & Lincolnwood, Schererville, IN with Father Constantine Aliferakis officiating. At rest, Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Trisagion prayer service will be held. Ali was a fun-loving lady, always there to lend a helping hand, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. May her memory be eternal!
