Margaret was the daughter of Walter Fanning (May 20, 1747, Preston (New London) Connecticut - April 19, 1820) and Grace Benjamin (February 24, 1754 - July 2, 1832). Many of Margaret's ancestors are listed at her parents' links.

Margaret and Samuel were the parents of 9 children. Known children in addition to those buried in Cataraqui are:

• Ann (Apr 18, 1821-Aug 20, 1893)

On the 1851 Census, the family name was misspelled as "Moore". On the 1861 Census the family recorded directly below the Mooers was the Letherlands [sic], including John and Mary (Mooers) Letherland [sic].

An additional child of hers known to have been buried in Kingston, but for whom the actual cemetery involved is not certain, is Caroline Mooers, born 31 Jan, 1823 in Kingston, died 8 Nov 1902 in Kingston. Her husband, precise burial place also unknown was Thomas McCrea, born 20 Jul 1817 in Kingston, died 10 Apr 1903, also in Kingston.

Thomas McCrae's last residence was 477 Princess St.; he died from general debility.
