A graveside funeral for Kay Yancy, 61, of Henderson, formerly of Santa Anna, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016 at the Santa Anna Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today. Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Yancy passed from this life on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

Melissa Kay Bateman was born on April 23, 1954 in Brownfield to Joe and Leona Mae (Shields) Bateman.

Kay graduated from Arp High School. She went on to nursing school and earned her LVN license.

She married David Lynn Yancy in 1973 in Coleman. Kay worked for Brownwood Regional Medical Center for 27 years in labor and delivery before retiring to Henderson six years ago.

Kay is survived by her husband of 43 years, David Yancy of Henderson; two sons, Scotty Yancy and wife Connie Smith of Cleburne and Mark Yancy and wife Yesenia of Arlington; five grandchildren, Michael Yancy, Kristen Yancy, Felecity Yancy, Kamri Yancy and Lyle Smith; three great-grandchildren, Preston Washington, Liam Brannon and Elena Rodriguez; her mother, Leona Mae Frazee and husband Mark of Burns Flat, Okla.; and a sister, Becky Pruitt and husband Ronnie of Henderson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe C. Bateman; and a brother, Joe Wayne Bateman.
