G. David Ailes, 54, of Connersville died Tuesday, December 05, 2006 at his residence following a lengthy illness. A Connersville native, he was born November 15, 1952 to Cecil Lowell and Viola Marie Fields Ailes. He attended Eastview School and was a 1972 graduate of Connersville High School where he participated in track, cross country, football and wrestling. He also attended Connersville Vocational School and excelled in auto mechanics. In April of 2005, he retired from Visteon after 20 years of employment. He had also worked at H.H. Robertson, building pole barns with Avery Gabbard, Larry Gard Well Drilling, driving a semi for Indiana Box, and as a licensed mechanic at Van's Marathon, all of Connersville. He was a member of the former Quakertown Methodist Church. He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed the outdoors. He liked to ride his motorcycle and was an accomplished artist. In his leisure time, he enjoyed socializing and collecting Hot Wheels die-cast cars.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Lynn "Tork" Parke Ailes, whom he married June 17, 1972 in Connersville; one son: D. Tyler Ailes of Connersville; maternal grandmother: Stella M. Willis of Winslow; two brothers: Phillip L. Ailes and his wife, Jodie of Dracut, MA; and Barry D. Ailes of Jackson, KY; three sisters and their spouses: Doretta "Dee" and Dennis Carpenter, Edith M. and Duane Carpenter, all of Rushville; Lisa L. and Steve Miller of Havelock, NC; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandfather and step-grandmother: Roma and Eunice Mays; paternal grandparents: Albert and Martha Ailes; step-maternal grandfather: Heber Willis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Reverend Richard Ware of Higher Praise Worship Center officiating. Interment will follow in Lick Creek Cemetery, Fayette Co. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 8 pm Thursday.
