He confessed hope in Christ in 1971 under the leadership of Pastor Milton Fields and united with Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories: his wife Elsie Shinn of Caledonia, MS; 16 sons and daughters: Joseph Lloyd (Patricia) of Tupelo, MS; Elaine Carothers of Alexandria,VA; Elois Sims of Hamilton, MS; Virginia Lewis (Bennie) of Columbus, MS; Joyce Blaylock (Odell) of Caledonia, MS; Walter Shinn (Lucille) of Caledonia , MS; Jasper Shinn (Irma) of Columbus, MS; Walter Ray Shinn (Jackie) of Norwalk, Conn.; Retha Foster (Cecil) of Killeen, TX; Cornelia Shinn (Joe) of Caledonia, MS; Lillie Jennings of Columbus, MS; Mary Shinn of Columbus, MS; Cleveland Shinn, JR. (Barbara) of Mamaroneck, NY; Alice Stroud (Curtis) of Columbus, MS; Jimmy Shinn of Caledonia ,MS; and Leon Shinn of Andulusia, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by three children: Lola Thomas, Winston Shinn, and Thomas Shinn; nine grandchildren, one sister and six brothers.
