Janet M. Gaterman, age 86, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life on Tuesday afternoon, September 27, 2016 at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

Janet was born on December 1, 1929 in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late John T. and Susan A. Slowinski Broehm. Janet was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1948 and continued her education at the Manitowoc Business College for two years. She was employed as a secretary at Mirro Aluminum. On April 30, 1955 she married Glenn R. Gaterman at St. John's United Church of Christ in Manitowoc. Janet was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ where she was the church secretary for over 20 years, taught Sunday School for 21 years, and also was a member of the choir for 10 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years: Glenn; one son: David Gaterman, Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law: Debbie and Jerry Wenzel, Two Rivers; two grandchildren: Brett (Clare) Wenzel and Marilyn (Tyler) Sincock; three great grandchildren: Brycen, Berkeley, and Matthew; one brother and sister-in-law: Ken and Audrey Broehm, Manitowoc; one sister: Bernice Dufano, Georgia; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Susan Broehm.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1501 Marshall Street, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Judine Duerwaechter. Relatives and friends may call at St. John's United Church of Christ on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with burial of the cremains to take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc.
