(Wakefield) Harrington of Brookfield, Vt., was born November 4, 1786, which may
have been before the family moved from Halifax to Brookfield. Her father died
during her l6th year. It was probably soon after this that she went with her
mother and brothers John and Ziba to Brampton in Lower Canada. There she met
GardnerStevens whom she married in 1806 or thereabout. They made their home
on a farm just east of Lennoxville, near the confluence of the Mossawippi and
St. Francis rivers. She died November l6, 1865, having survived her husband by
20 years; and is buried in the Lennoxville cemetery not far from their home. Deborah and Gardner had five sons and six daughters. One son died at the
age of ten years. The other children all lived to become adults and with one
exception, all married. The best known of these descendants was John H. Stevens,
first settler of the city of Minneapolis.
