Woodham Rites Slated Monday
Funeral services for Cowan E. Woodham, a long-time Mobile County public school teacher, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from Eight Mile Methodist Church. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens.
Woodham, 83, died Friday at a local nursing home. A native of Dale County, Ala., he had resided in Eight Mile for 38 years, and taught for 30 years in the Mobile school system.
He was a World War I veteran, and a member of Bowen Lodge F & A.M. in Whistler, the American Legion and Eight Mile Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Samuel R. Woodham, Moss Point, Mis.; Brannan D. Woodham, Byron, Ga., and Earl Buntin, Mobile; and two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Prine and Mrs. Ann Cheeseman, both of Eight Mile.
Johson Quimby Northside Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cowan Ellington Woodham -- A native of Dale County, Alabama, resident of Eight Mile, Alabama, residing at 5119 St. Stephens Road, died in a local nursing home Friday, Oct. 13, 1972, at 1 p.m. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Prine, Eight Mile, Alabama, and Mrs. Asa Cheeseman, Eight Mile, Alabama; three sons, Sam R. Woodham, Moss Point, Mississippi, Brannan D. Woodham, Warner Robins, Georgia, and Earl G. Buntin, Mobile, Alabama; three sisters, Mrs. Priscilla W. Griggs, Ozark, Alabama, Mrs. Jennie Baker, Skipperville, Alabama and Mrs. Mary Morott, Ozark, Alabama; eight brothers, Jart Woodham, Blount Town, Florida, Joseph Woodham, John Woodham, Perry Woodham, Charlie Woodham, Guy Woodham, Hoyt Woodham and Pryor Woodham, all of Ozark, Alabama; 17 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and other relatives. Funeral services will be from the Eight Mile Methodist Church Monday, Oct. 16, 1972 at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. His remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to funeral services. Visitation after 3 p.m. Sunday. Funeral arrangements by Johnson-Quimby-Northside Funeral Home, 1214 North Wilson Avenue, Prichard, Alabama.
