John "Jack" Boyd, age 86, a resident of Felician Village, Manitowoc, died Wednesday evening, October 9, 2013 at the Felician Village.

Jack was born on March 23, 1927 in Evanston, IL., son of the late William L. Boyd III and Marjorie (Broad) Boyd. He graduated from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee with the class of 1945 and then received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from Northwestern University. Jack served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. On September 20, 1974 he married the former Grace Felber Gospodarek at St. Paul Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Jack was employed as a design engineer at Mirro Aluminum Company and Kelvinator of Manitowoc. He was a Past President of the Manitowoc Kiwanis Club and an active volunteer at Peter's Pantry. Jack was also a violinist with the Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra.

Survivors include his wife: Grace, Manitowoc; three sons and two daughters-in-law: John "Jack" Boyd, Asheville, NC., Paul and Marijane Boyd, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL., Bradley K. and Cecilia Boyd, Melbourne, FL.; one daughter and son-in-law: Bonnie and Tom Carlson, Burlington, WI.; Grace's children: Bonnie and Jim Jirikowic, Manitowoc, Judie Erickson, Manitowoc, Christine and Richard Rosenbalm, Mequon, WI., Gene and Jay Gospodarek, Muskego, WI., and Jack and Ann Gospodarek, Superior, CO. Jack and Grace shared 21 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister and brother-in-law: Patricia and Bob Peters, Las Vegas, NV.; one sister-in-law: Laura Piefer, Hartford, WI. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother: William Logan Boyd IV.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, October 14, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 14, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Manitowoc, where military rites will be accorded by the VFW Otto Oas Post 659.
