Thomas James (T.J.) Brady 83 died December 1, 2006 at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Home in Manhattan, KS. He was born on August 30, 1923 in Oil City, OK., the son of Thomas and Gertrude (Dotson) Brady. Much of his childhood was spent in San Antonio, TX where he graduated from South San Antonio High School in 1941.
He married Laverne L. Dahm on November 4, 1944 in Abilene, TX. They were married 62 years. She preceded him in death on December 31, 2005.
T.J. enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943. A veteran of WWII he served his country by being stationed in India for 15 months where he worked as a medical technician. After the war he worked for the Georgia Pacific Corporation in Blue Rapids, KS for 43 years, retiring in 1989. He worked many jobs at the plant where he was best known by the name of "Tex".
He was an active member of the Methodist Church, a 52 year member of Eastern Star, 55 year member of the Blue Rapids Masonic Lodge #169, a lifetime member of American Legion Post #169 of Blue Rapids, KS.
T.J. is survived by three children, three sisters, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was a proud and active participant in the lives of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be deeply missed.
