Anthony R. Ziegler passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 10:54 AM, age 93. Beloved husband of Geneva Joffrion Ziegler, Father of Priscilla Z. Lemoine, Toni Z. Wahl and the late Peggy Z. Scamardo Sanchez. Son of the late Viola Bernard Ziegler and Frank J. Ziegler. Brother of the late Erwin and Frank Ziegler and Rosemary Z. Shepard. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A native of New Orleans and a resident of Harahan for 40 years. A US Army veteran of World War II having served in the 14th Tank Battalion 9th Armored Division. He was initiated into Local 130 in 1936 and is a 72 years member of the IBEW. He served Local 130 on the Executive Board, as an assistant business manager, Business manager and then becoming an International Representative. In 1967, when asked by the NECA Chapter, and with the blessing of the Fifth District, he becam Chapter Manager. the common statement made by all was of Brother Ziegler's fairness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., (in Metairie Cemetery) on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park. Visitation on Wednesday from 10:30AM until service time.
