George Kraus, Sr., resident of New Ulm since 1882, died at the home of his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Anton Kraus, at 10 p.m. Thursday, June 28, as a result of infirmities from old age.
Mr. Kraus had been confined to his bed for more than two weeks. Funeral services were held from St. Mary's Catholic church at 9 a.m. Monday with Rev. John Goergen officiating. Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery.
He was born February 20, 1840 in Bohemia , coming to America with his family in 1882, where he settled in New Ulm. In 1865 he had married Miss Mary Bauer in Germany. Eight children were born to them, three of whom are now deceased. Mrs. Kraus died ten years ago, while deceased sons are Anton and Joseph. A daughter, Mrs. Katharine Prokosch is also dead.
Surviving Mr. Kraus are three sons, George, Wenzel and John, all of New Ulm; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Rewitzer of New Ulm and Mrs. George Groebner of Sigel; and 84 grandchildren and 88 great-grandchildren.
