A native of Gaston County, he was the widower of the late Agnes Inez Rose Haas and son of the late Charles James and Minnie Pearl Moses Haas. He was a self-employed textile parts salesman and auctioner and a member of First United Methodist Church in Dallas. Haas was preceded in death by a son, Roger Haas.
Surviving are five sons and four daughters-in-law, Richard and Barbara Haas of Dallas, Jimmy and Carolyn Haas of Dallas, Gary Haas of Oak Island, Burwell and Joyce Haas of Vale, Dale and Glenda Haas of Bessemer City; a sister, Vivian Barnes of Charlotte; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Interment followed at Gaston Memorial Park.
