Christena or Tena as she was better known, married James Wesley CONNOR who was born May 23, 1851 in Ireland. They lived in Seven Mile Creek, Carbon Co., Wyoming in the 1880 US Census.
Their children were:
James Ephraim CONNOR (1879-1909)
Willard C. CONNOR (1882-1896)
Laura Christina CONNOR GROSSNICKLE DEPEW (1884-89-1948)
Ruth C. CONNOR WOLFE SHULER (1888-1949)
Joel Wesley CONNOR (1889- )
Mae/May Patty CONNOR (1892- )
It's unknown when Tena's husband, James W. CONNOR died. It's thought that he died in Wyoming but someone posted a death story on someone else by the same name even though they posted the same date of birth if you calculate everything from that story it doesn't match this James W. CONNOR.
The story that has been passed down through the family is that in the late 1890's probably 1896-1897, Tena drove a covered wagon with a wagon train from Laramie, Wyoming to Whittier, Los Angeles Co., California where they settled before moving first to Rolland, CA, then to Lordsburg which is now called La Verne, Los Angeles Co., California where Tena and her parents lived out their lives. Tena brought her parents and her children on the wagon train.
Another story that was passed down through the family is that either James Wesley CONNOR or his family changed their name from O'CONNOR to CONNOR when coming to America, and that some of the family from Ireland changed it to CONNER.
Tena is buried at Oakdale Memorial Park, Glendora, Los Angeles Co., California in Space 1, Lot B, Block 58, Section F. She is buried beside her parents. None of them have a headstone.
On Oct. 2, 2016, after 3 trips inside the cemetery office and a long search on the grounds with assistance from a grounds keeper, it was determined that none of them have a headstone. Also a discussion with the records keeper at the cemetery shows that they still own another space next to Tena and her parents that is currently empty and has been "designated for someone in particular" but they would not tell me who due to privacy reasons.
