Clara Christine "Chris" Gaston, 80, of Waco, passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Pendleton officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. Chris was born June 5, 1926, in Oglesby, to the late James and Martha (Ayers) Magee. Chris worked for Doak Aircraft Manufacturing in California as one of the many "Rosie the Riveters" while her husband served in the US Army during WWII. She worked for Citizens National Bank for over 20 years. During her lifetime, she and her husband lovingly opened their door to many friends and relatives. They took into their home their niece, Marsha Beeman-Carr; nephews, Glenn and Earl Burt; and grandson, Jesse Gaston. Chris was the matriarch of the family. She cared and loved her friends and family with all her heart. One of her special loves was her precious dog, Sassy. She truly had a heart of gold. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Marvin Gaston; son, Robert Gaston; sisters, Doris Burt, Polly Scott, and Joann Cole; and brother, David Magee. She is survived by her sister, Jean Seay; daughter, Linda Fuentes; and son, Stephen Gaston. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bradley Fuentes and wife, Catherine, Tammie Cunningham and husband, Brian, Stephanie Gaston, and Jesse Gaston. She was known as "Grandma-wama" and "Grandma Twinkles" by her great-grandchildren, Anna and Emily Fuentes and Miller Cunningham. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Sammy Fuentes; and brother-in-law, N.O. Scott. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Mike Magee, Nelson Scott, Guy Scott, Glenn Burt, Earl Burt and son-in-law, Sammy Fuentes. The family gives many thanks to Providence Hospice. Also a special thanks to Leah Hemmelgarn, Cynthia Chavez, and caretaker, Judi Roberts.
