OBITUARY Iron River Reporter Dec 31 1975 "Obituaries: Elroy A. Beck"
Elroy A. Beck, 62, Stambaugh, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at the Riverside Bowling Alley, Iron River, on Monday, December 22.
Mr. Beck was born January 7, 1913 in Crystal Falls. He came to Caspian as a child and had been a resident of this area until his death. He graduated from Stambaugh High School in 1929. For 25 years he worked at the Caspian Mine for Pickands Mather Company and for the past 13 years at the Groveland Mine for M.A. Hanna Co. Mr. Beck married the former Betty Rogers on July 29, 1939.
Surviving are his wife; a son Andrew of Ishpeming; three daughters, Lorri at home, Mrs. Delbert (Judy) Nichel, Cheboygan, and Mrs. Wayne (Sue) Lashbrook, Lucasville, Ohio; a sister Mrs. Roland (Viola) Peterson, Iron Mountain; and two brothers, Raymond, Wisconsin Rapids, and Conrad, Escanaba. Six grandchildren also survive.
The family requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First Lutheran Church memorial fund.
Funeral services were at First Lutheran Church of Iron River on Wednesday, December 24, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harlin Haack, pastor, officiating.
Mrs. Morris Holm sang "Jesus, Still Lead On" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," accompanied by Mrs. Linnea Bagley, organist.
Pallbearers were Jeffrey Goodhall, John Rogers, Alex Thibodeau, Jack Anderson, James Rasmussen and Thomas Karvala.
Interment was in Stambaugh Cemetery.
Brooks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
