A resident of St. Joseph county 62 years, John N. Moomaw, died this morning at 6:30 o'clock at the family residence, 737 Diamond Avenue. Death was due to a general decline, Mr. Moomaw being ill with a complication of diseases for six weeks. Mr. Moomaw was born in Botetourt County, Virginia, 74 years ago. He came to St. Joseph County in 1848 and was married March 1, 1860, to his surviving wife, whose maiden name was Sarah Fisher. Mr. and Mrs. Moomaw celebrated their golden wedding anniversary this year. They came to South Bend to reside six years ago.
The surviving children are William of Chicago; Mrs. C. J. Loshbaugh, of Wichita, Kan.; Josephus and Clinton, of South Bend; Mrs. L. L. Garber, of Ashland, O.; Dalton, of Ithaca, N.Y., and Mrs. F. B. Yoder, of Altoona, Pa. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters; D. L. Moomaw, of Baker City, Ore.; Hiram Moomaw and Mrs. Joseph Truxell, of Springfield, Mo.; Mrs. Jacob Fisher, of South Bend and Mrs. Loren Miller, of Warren township, this county.
The funeral will be held from the Second Church of the Brethern, Cushing and Van Buren streets, Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. A. T. Wirick, pastor of the First Brethern church, officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
