Daniel B. Marquette, 56, of Kearney, formerly of North Platte, died Sept. 30, 2016, at the CHI Health-Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Daniel was born on Jan. 16, 1960, to Allen and Esther “Toni” (Larson) Marquette in Rapid City, South Dakota.
He started a career on the railroad shortly after high school and continued in that capacity for over 20 years. He married Susan Nichols on June 18, 2002, in rural Cherry County.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Allen; and his brother, Randy.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Susan, of Kearney; daughter, Andria Smith, of Kearney; son, Lewis Smith, of Mason City, Iowa; mother, Esther “Toni” Marquette, of North Platte; sisters, Roxanne (Richard) Merksick, of North Platte, Sheryl (Darrel) Kackmeister, of Union, and Jody (Fred) Stanley, of Bellevue; grandson, Xavier Smith, of Mason City; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. There will be no visitation. Horner Lieske McBride and Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services, Kearney, is in charge of arrangements.
