MANCHESTER - Adelbert "Del" Beedy, 85, resident of Manchester, passed away on Sept. 28, 2016, following a long illness. He was born June 28, 1931, in Farmington, the son of Paul Drew Beedy and Flora (Viles) Beedy. Del attended the Farmington schools and graduated in 1949.

He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to the University of Maine, Orono and received his degree in Civil Engineering in 1955.

In the beginning of his career he was employed as a civil engineer by the New Hampshire Highway Department and also by the Ralph Barnett Construction Company of Augusta. Del was employed by the U.S. Forest Service as a forest engineer for several years, working in New Hampshire, California and Washington D.C.In 1970, he returned to Maine and was employed as a utility engineer for the Maine Public Utility Commission until he retired in 1994. Del was a member of Maine Lodge #20 of Farmington.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Richard Beedy; and his stepmother, Tina Beedy.

Del is survived by his wife, Lois Mahon Beedy of Manchester; his daughter, Stacie Ann Beedy of Alna; his sister-in-law, Connie Beedy; his nephew, Drew Frederick Beedy and nieces, Pamela and Joclin; his stepchildren, Florence Milazzo Baiocchi of Rhode Island, Ann Marie Milazzo of New York and Michael Milazzo of Colorado; grandchildren, Mikayla and Madison Baiocchi of Rhode Island and Maximus and Tytus Milazzo of Denver, Colo.; along with several stepsisters and brothers, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private family burial will be at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta at a later date.
