1. ANTOINETTE A. UNDERHILL, daughter of (340) Anthony Lispenard and Clarina (Bartow) Underhill, was born July 4, 1805, and married Oct. 29, 1832, at 44 Dey Street, New York City, Col. Enoch Coffin, son of Col. Joseph March. He was born in Deerfield, N.H., and died in New York City, April 25, 1860. She died in Chicago, Ill., March 20, 1893, where she was living with a married daughter, and they are buried in her father’s vault in Trinity Churchyard, New York City. He furnished supplies to the army in the Mexican War.
Issue (March):
+2269 George S., born Oct. 11, 1833.
2270 Clara, died 1885, not married.
2271 Jula A., married Horace Reed and in 1903 was residing in Buffalo, N.Y. She died in London, England, April 14, 1916, leaving daughter, Dr. Eleanor M. Reed of that city.
In an account of the burial of Antoinette A. March, it is stated that “her only son George S. is ill of the grip at the Hotel Lincoln and could not attend the burial, but his wife was present. Louis M. March, his son, of Providence, and grandson of the deceased was there as well as Mrs. H.C. Meinell, a niece; H.C. Meinell, a grand-nephew; James H. Underhill of Orange, N.J., a nephew; John P. Mumford, a nephew, and his wife; Mr. and Mrs. George Alpers, the latter a grand-niece.'”
"The vault was built in 1817 and when opened for Mrs. March only three coffins were found intact. The bones of nine members of the Underhill family were lying on the floor and Sexton Gobert had them placed in wooden coffins." "There were 3 Suydams, 2 Sykes, 2 Mumfords, 4 Marchs and 1 Underhill."
Trinity Church Vital Records state that Enoch C. March was born in New Haven, Conn., and died in Jersey City, aged 67 years, buried April 24, 1860, which does not agree with what are apparently the family records.
The marriage of Enoch C. March to Augusta Antoinette Underhill (as recorded) is on record in Trinity Church and Rev. Wm. Berrian, D.D., officiated; also the Long Island Star of Oct. 31, 1832, has the following notice: Col E.C. March of St. Louis, married in New York, Augusta A., daughter of A.L. Underhill.
