Officer was a member of Destiny Church. He was a member for about 10 years, according to the church's Pastor Jim Stern. Pastor Stern said Snyder was a leader, mentored teens and was also an employee for some time. Snyder is being described as faithful, reliable, and a man of great character.

Snyder grew up in Godfrey, Illinois and was a graduate of Alton High School.
