June Carroll, 82, died Oct. 6, 2016, in Longview.

She was born in South Kelso on June 13, 1934, and lived in this area all her life. Her parents were Archie William Carroll and Edna Mae (Meeks). She had a grandmother, Edna (Hoover) Carroll who raised her from the time she was 3 and-a-half.

She married Gordon Mackey on Aug. 7, 1951, and together they had three sons. Divorced in 1976 she worked at the Fibre cafeteria and the CAP agency as the Help Warehouse coordinator until she retired in 1999.

Her love for genealogy made her the family historian and, with a real investigative spirit, helped others track down their families. She enjoyed her flowers and the many birds that visited her home each day.

At her request, there will be no funeral. Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park is in charge of cremation.

Her memorial is placed at the Catlin Cemetery in the same plot with her great-grandparents, James M. and Christina (Stock) Carroll. June researched this cemetery and placed her information on “Find a Grave” on the internet.
