LaVerne was born February 27, 1928 in Wilburton, Oklahoma and passed January 8, 2015 in Bakersfield, CA. LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Alvin (Dude) Hatfield, parents, Lue and Harrison Cleaver, brothers, Bobby Cleaver, Harold Cleaver, Bill Cleaver and Ray Cleaver. She is also preceded in death by her first grandchild, Douglas Hatfield (Michelle), and niece, Pat Selz.
Laverne is survived by her children, Cameron Wayne Hatfield, Gary Hatfield, Mark Hatfield, and Jennifer DeArkland (Dave). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Cari Walker (Brandon), Brandon Ridley, Michelle Prestriedge (Evan), Katie Chase (Donnie), Andrea Graglia, Nicholas Rodges, Katrina Hatfield, Cassandra Hatfield, and Keara Hatfield, her great grandchildren, Blake Walker, Brett Walker, Ryan Hatfield, Berkeley Hatfield, Drake Hatfield, Aiden Prestriedge, Rylan Prestriedge, Sonny Chase, Shiloh Chase and Nolan Graglia. Special to her heart are her children Valerie and Mike Sylvester. LaVerne is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
LaVerne was a credit clerk for Brock's Department store for many years. She then moved to Broadway Department Stores and then Macy's.
Celebration of life will be held graveside on January 14, 2015, at 2:00 PM, at Hillcrest Cemetery.
