Beth A Woodruff Carlson..had lots of siblings whom she cared for, married her first husband Arthur Woodruff had three children Phyllis Edith (Edie) and Jerry...eventually she divorced at a time it was unusual...then married who would be my grandfather Wilbur (Bill) Carlson..in 1949 who had a daughter from previous marriage Marilynn..
Wilbur and Beth had two daughters in their union Roberta Carlson and my mom Jean Carlson Mykleby...which the family became the Brady Bunch before the Brady Bunch except it was three families in one family..
Beth had many nieces and nephews whom she took card of as well..many many grandchildren and two great grandchildren before she died..
She had one older sister not many of the other siblings knew about until later named Phyllis who was born disabled and lived much of her life in an asylum in Wisconsin until her death at age 20..my grandma obviously knew about her such as her first daughter was named after Phyllis..
My grandma Beth started of being born on a farm in Barren Wisconsin in 1911..and family then eventually moved to Minnesota..eventually ended up in Minneapolis..
In the 1960's Beth worked at the steak sandwich stand at metropolitan stadium right where Mall of America now sits..she enjoyed working there..and even included family and grandchildren she brought with her to work..
In fact my grandma worked at the stadium when the Beatles performed there..my mom aunt and others who were kids were watching the Beatles that night..
Sadly shortly after the stadium closed and the dome open Beth became sick with multiple myoloma a cancer..she bravely and painfully still made it that she cooked and made dinners even while sick..she was the best..I never left my grandma's house hungry..she had many friends in the community living the rest of her life in south Minneapolis on 13th ave across the street from Hale school..she died July 15 1985 in her sleep at home..
I clearly remember her funeral how crowded and packed the church was..
Not a dry eye..she was one special woman and I was lucky to call her grandma..
