Larcus Harrison Barnes, age 81, of Newnan, beloved father and husband, passed away September 30, 2016. He was born January 9, 1935 to Leonard Lee Barnes and Cammie Harrison
Barnes. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Brenda Barnes; sisters, Vivian Higgins, Ruth Hemrick, and Elsie Winkles; and brother, Rayford Barnes.

He served in the US Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid and worked at James River Corporation for 38 years. He enjoyed fishing and was a ham radio operator, an inventor, and was known as someone who could repair most anything broken. He served in the Coweta County Rescue Squad in his younger years. He was a gentle and kind soul who was dearly loved by his family and also his caregivers in his final year.

He is survived by four daughters--Lisa Beall (Rob), Bonnie Neill (Mike Milam), Cindy Eckhart (Tim), and Colleen Lee (Derrick Fugatt); 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He is also predeceased by one great-grandson.

A memorial service will be held at noon in the chapel of Higgins Hillcrest Funeral Home on Saturday October 8; internment will follow at Forest Lawn in Newnan, with the Reverend Erin Beall officiating. The family will receive friends at 11:00 AM until service time on Saturday.
