George was my "grandpa" and a very hard working man. He was the youngest of seven children whose parents were born in Germany. He was married to Hannah Seed and had two children. He worked as a machine operator at the Arcadia Mill in Lawrence, but he was also a night watchman, ran a small farm, and was very talented with woodworking. He only went to the 8th grade, but he loved reading, especially the National Geographic. He was smart, talented, and enjoyed a good intellectual discussion.
