Dawn lost her battle with cancer on October 7th. She was 60 years old. Born in 1956, in New Orleans, the daughter of Evans and Betty Florsia Blanchard.

After graduating John F. Kennedy high school, she attended LSU. She remained in Baton Rouge to marry, create a family, and build a career. Dawn was a loving wife, devoted mother, and adoring grandmother. As a mother of four children and 5 grandchildren, her house was a revolving door of kids and dogs. Her caring and calm nature was a magnet for all children, especially her grandchildren who loved to spend time at their Dee Dee's house. She found such joy in playing with her grandkids and in their happiness. Throughout her life, Dawn was happiest when she was outside, whether on the water at her fishing camp, gardening, playing with her border collies or playing tennis with her friends at Bocage Racquet Club. She was an accomplished tennis player, winning regionals and going on to the USTA League National Championships in 1991 with her team. Dawn will be remembered as a straight shooter with the friendliest heart and big sense of humor, beautiful smile and true grit.

Dawn is survived by her loving husband, Jim Power; her father, Evans Blanchard; children, Ryan Garraway and Colleen Garraway; step-children, David Garraway and wife, Jennifer, Rachel Power and husband, Nick Erickson, Rebecca Egbert and husband, James, and Michael Garraway; siblings, Robbie Pittman and husband, Tom, and Melissa Brown; grandchildren, Nicholas Power-Erickson, William Garraway, Katherine Garraway, Waylon James, Emma Dawn James, Rachel Sinn, Emily Harrah, and Luke Harrah; nieces and nephews, Monique Watson, Michelle Mandeville, and Kim Brown.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bert Garraway, and her mother, Betty Blanchard. Private services will be held for immediate family.
