McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Anthony "Fred" Lowery, 88, of 449 Breezy Point Road, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at Quincy Retirement Home, Quincy, Pa.

Born June 20, 1918, in Akersville, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Sadi Bernice Strait Lowery.

His wife, Marian Edwards Lowery, died in 2004.

He was a retired mechanic from PennDOT.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by one daughter, Shirley L. Tatem of Middletown, Pa.; three sons, Anthony Lowery Jr. of New Tripoli, Pa., Guy Lowery of McConnellsburg, and Harold Lowery of Bellevue, Neb.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Lowery, Helen L. DeShong, Inez L. Grove and Mae L. Fetterhoff; and two brothers, Buddie and William Lowery.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
