Mary Jane (Jones) Rosenberg Mary Jane Rosenberg, age 88, lifelong Lake Crystal area resident, died Saturday, April 23, 2016, with her family by her side at Crystal Seasons in Lake Crystal.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Butternut. Interment will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church or Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato Hospice.

Mary Jane was born on May 9, 1927, at the Franchere Hospital in Lake Crystal to Leslie O. and Gaynor (Jones) Jones. She attended Lake Crystal School until 2nd grade at which time they moved to Butternut Township and she then attended Felch School, rural Lake Crystal. Mary Jane returned to Lake Crystal School as a freshman and graduated from High School in 1945. After graduation she went to work at Automatic Electric until September 1946 and then attended Mankato Commercial College. From there she worked at the Mankato Credit Bureau and then the P.M.A. (U.S.D.A.) until 1953. On June 6, 1953, she married Melvin Rosenberg at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Mankato. They were blessed with three sons, Donald, Richard, and Timothy. After marriage they moved to rural Lake Crystal and farmed until the early 1980’s and in 1991 they moved to Lake Crystal. In 1968 she went back to work at BENCO Electric from which she retired in 1992. She was active in many things, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church – Sunday school and Bible School Teacher, WELCA, Ladies Aid, Board of Education, W.A.A. (Women’s Athletic Association), Alpha Theta Sorority for 33 years, Tuesday Fun and Lincoln Harmony Extension group, the Minnesota Welsh Gymanfa Ganu Singing Association and two card clubs. Mary Jane enjoyed being with people, music, sports, especially the Vikings, playing cards, traveling, spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandson, and friends.

Mary Jane is survived by her son, Donald Rosenberg and his wife, Brenda of Presque Isle, MI; daughter-in-law, Michele “Shelly” Rosenberg of Lake Crystal; five cherished grandchildren, Natasha (Nancy Bebernes), Eric, Natalie (Tracey Gentile), Leslie, and Nicole (Joe Olstrom); great-grandson, Oliver Richard Olstrom; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin in 2000; sons, Timothy in 1961 and Richard in 2005; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Ruth (Davis) Rosenberg; brother, Buell Jones; two sisters, Eleanor Splinter and Rosella Cornish; sisters-in-law, Alice Jones and Betty Jones; brothers-in-law, Carmody Helgeson, Harold Splinter, and Robert Cornish.
