Loving Mother and Grandmother,
Barbara Paine Ables went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 10, 2016.

Born May 6, 1938 in Houston, to John Overton "Buck" Paine and Juanita Katherine Ellis.

The Paine family moved to San Marcos, Texas in 1945 where Barbara and her sisters grew up. She loved and adored her parents and family and cherished her childhood years in San Marcos and made many lifelong friends. She graduated from San Marcos High School in 1956 and attended Southwest Texas State University. Barbara married and had two son's, Buck and Jeff. In 1969, Barbara married Jesse Ables and the family moved to Austin where she began working in the property management and real estate business and continued to work until her retirement in 2011.

Barbara loved working with and helping people. She had a special place in her heart for the elderly residents at the complex that she managed for many years. The many residents at Forrest Creek Village were her favorites and she took a lot of pride in making this complex a family community. Her greatest love however, was her children, grandchildren and all of her family. Her care, love, and support for Buck while he battled Multiple Sclerosis helped extend his life and gave support and comfort to Sherry and Maegan. Being a mother was what she loved the most and she was loving, committed, and giving to her family all of her life.

She is survived by her son Jeff Ables and his wife Teresa, daughter-in-law Sherry Ables Darvin, three granddaughters, Maegan Whitaker and husband Jared, Kate Ables, and Abby Ables. Also, her two sisters Shirley Paine Fife and husband Jimmy, Linda Paine Gulledge and husband Bill, niece Kathy Fife Donaldson, nephews Jimmy Fife, John Fife, Trey and Matt Gulledge.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents James Percy Ellis and Katherine Law Ellis, parents Buck and Juanita Paine, son Buck Paine Ables, grandson Jacob Paine Ables, and nephew Jerry Paine Fife.

Visitation will be at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park on Sunday, October 16 from 5-7 pm. Graveside service will be Monday, October 17 at 10:00 am.

The family would like to thank the staff and workers at Stonebridge Health Center and especially the staff in the memory care unit that took such good care of Barbara the past year and a half.
