Mary Alice Berry, age 61, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., passed away Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at her residence in DeFuniak Springs.
She was born Aug. 21, 1943, in Cameron, Texas, the daughter of Paul and Domatilla Hinjosa Canizales. Mrs. Berry lived in DeFuniak Springs for the last five years, having moved from Crestview. She was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church. She was Senior Vice President of the Okaloosa Teachers Federal Credit Union for 20 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, shopping, crocheting and listening to Elvis music.
Mrs. Berry is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Robert L. Berry; two sons, Robert L. Berry, Jr. and wife Marie of Tallahassee, Fla., and Rodger D. Berry and wife Rhonda of Crestview; two daughters, Rhonda R. Pugh and husband Mark of Atlanta, and Rebecca I. Hosking and husband Leighton of Atlanta; five brothers, Joe Canizales of Groves, Texas, George Canizales of Beaumont, Texas, Paul Canizales of Beaumont, Texas, Aurthur Canizales of San Antonio, Texas, Rudy Canizales of Arthur, Texas; four sisters, Amelia Garza of Vidor, Texas, Rosie Hinson of Newton, Texas, Isabel Flores of Groves, Texas, and Susie Marcum of Spring, Texas. She is also survived by five grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, DeFuniak Springs.
Fureral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9 at St. Margaret's Catholic Church.
Active pallbearers will be Paul Canizales, Rudy Canizales, Don Garrison, Al Marcum and Jeff Spencer.
Floral arrangements are being accepted or donations my be made to the ALS Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.
The Berry family has placed their confidence in Clary-Glenn Funeral Home to handle the arrangements.
