Alvin J. Laster, 70, McLouth, died Thursday at a Topeka hospital.

He was born March 18, 1912, at McLouth, the son of Jesse and Sophia Lombard Laster. He lived in the McLouth community most of his life.

Mr. Laster was a custodian and bus driver at McLouth Grade School for 18 years, before retiring in 1967. He was a member of McLouth Baptist Church and a member of Lyra Lodge No. 256, AF&AM, McLouth.

He was married to Louise Everett Dec. 24, 1937, at Tonganoxie. She survives. A daughter, Mrs. JoAnn Wright, died Feb. 14, 1982.

Other survivors include a son, George Laster, Wellsville; his mother, Mrs. Sophia Laster, Oskaloosa; a brother, August Laster, Long Beach, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday at McLouth Baptist Church, McLouth. Burial was in McLouth Cemetery. Hampton-Barrett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to a memorial fund to be designated later by the family in care of the funeral home.
