Raymond O’Neil, 74, of Carp Lake, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 12, 2016.
A lifelong resident of the area, Ray was born June 29, 1942 in Carp Lake Township, the son of Edward and Martha (maiden name) O’Neil.  He serviced in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1967.  He was employed as a heavy equipment operator, and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #324 from 1972, until his retirement in 2000, having worked throughout the state of Michigan and northern Indiana.  He enjoyed hunting, gardening, cutting firewood, roasting pigs for his family and friends, and was a member of the Mackinaw City American Legion.
Surviving are four sons, Ray,(Sue) O’Neil of Levering, Dave (Kara) O’Neil of Harbor Springs, Russ (Sarah Grant), also of Levering, and Ed (Becky) O’Neil of Pellston, nine grandchildren, one great grandson, the mother of his children, Linda Groulx of Pellston,  seven sisters, Peggy Warren of Brighton, Jean Reberg of Petoskey, Eileen Blackburn of Juneau, Alaska, Mary Severn of Gaylord, Alice Taber of Troy, Betty Brown of Milaca, Minnesota, and Cathy O'Neil of Cross Village, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Lorraine Kenville, Dorothy Dennis, and Thelma Williams, and three brothers, Edward O’Neil, James O'Neil, and David O'Neil.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 1:00pm, with visitation beginning at 11:00am, at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan.  Pastor Rob Rhinier will officiate, burial will be at Carp Lake Township Cemetery.
