Alta M. (Ziebell) Tiede, 97, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, February 20, 2015, at Field of Dreams Assisted Living in Kiel.

Alta was born on August 19, 1917 in Burdick, Kansas, daughter of the late Henry and Ethel (Scheafer) Ziebell. She was united in marriage to Eugene Tiede on April 28, 1957 in Herington, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 26, 2009.

In 1965, Gene and Alta moved to Manitowoc to be near their daughter, Bonnie and her family.

Alta worked as a telephone operator in Kansas and Manitowoc until her retirement in 1975.

For many years, Alta and George enjoyed escaping the Wisconsin winters to their home in Winter Haven, Florida.

Alta enjoyed many things including reading, needlework, gardening, golfing, and spending time with her family and many friends.

She was also an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.

Alta is survived by her daughter Bonnie Cesar; her grandchildren; Harley, Jr. “Sonny” (Linda) Streiber, Julie (Steve) Matznick, Terry Streiber (Cara Wadkins), and Cindy (Brio) Lau all of Kiel; 10 great-grandchildren; Scott and Lucas Streiber, Michell (Joe) Barrette, Brandon and Zachary Matznick, Sasha (Brian) Kofke, Aric and Alicia Streiber, Logan and Austin Lau; two great-great-grandchildren; Morgan Karstaedt and Hawkin Kofke; step great-grandchildren; Mitchell (Amanda) Barrette and Devon Barrette; sisters-in-law; Leona Anderson, Lucille and Velda Jean Tiede, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law James Cesar, three brothers, and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1712 Menasha Avenue Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Zachary DeArmond with burial at Kiel City Cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.

The Pieffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
