Gerard F. "Jerry" Marshall, age 80, of 2425 Dewey Street, Manitowoc, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Jerry was born March 23, 1932 in Milwaukee, son of the late Earl and Frieda (Werts) Marshall. He attended Wauwatosa Public Schools, graduating from Wauwatosa High School in 1950. He attended the University of Wisconsin Extension in both Milwaukee and Manitowoc, graduating from Lakeland College in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. He received his Masters Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh in 1974. Mr. Marshall taught Social Studies in the Two Rivers and Manitowoc school systems for 34 years, retiring in 1993. Mr. Marshall served in the U.S. Navy as a weatherman second class, from December, 1952 to December, 1955, serving at the Fleet Weather Central, San Francisco and Fleet Air Wing One based aboard ship in the Philippine Islands. On December 27, 1952, he married the former Donna Kitzerow at the First Reformed Church, Manitowoc. Mr. Marshall served on the Manitowoc Common council, representing the 3rd & 7th Districts, from November, 1979 until April, 1992. He is a member of First Lutheran Church and has been a member of the Manitowoc Elks Lodge #687 since 1965.

Dad was a gentle, patient, selfless and fun loving father for his daughters and a very special grandpa to his five grandchildren who will always remember those 6 a.m. visits to Silver Creek Park and their trip with him to Washington DC. He was a role model to all he served and he spent his life in service to others. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Donna, the love of his life, two daughters and one son-in-law, Wendy Sullivan, Green Bay, Julie (James) Oswald, Fairfield Glade, TN, five grandchildren, Jordan & Katie Sullivan, Green Bay, Tyler & Amy Sullivan, Wauwatosa, Adam Sullivan, Minneapolis, Lauren & Dan Daitchman, Chicago, Taylor Oswald, Columbus, Ohio. Four great-grandchildren: Gavin, Brendan, Audrick & Avenley and another great grandson on the way. Brother James Marshall, Haines City, Florida, sister-in-law Barbara (Bill) Goehring, Omaha, Nebraska and nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013 at First Lutheran Church, 521 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Roald Harswick will officiate with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum.
