Alfred A. Conklin Jr., 100, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Harbor Chase, Vero Beach.

Born in New Haven, CT, he had been a resident of the Harbor Place, Port St. Lucie for 6 years coming from Milford, CT.

During World War II he served the US Army Air Corp.

Prior to retiring he worked for the United Illuminating Company in New Haven, CT. He also was the owner of Conklin-Sherman Co., manufacturing condenser tube plugs.

Survivors include his children, Gail Novotny and her husband Edward of Bennington, NH, Alfred A. Conklin III and his wife Barbara of Plymouth, NH and Karen Monaco and her husband Dick of Vero Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Russell Novotny and his wife Rose, Laura Novotny, Janet Daly and her husband Mark, Bryn Rogers and her husband Andrew, Josh Conklin and his wife Sara, Matthew Monaco and his wife Tammy and Peter Monaco and his wife Alexis; great-grandchildren, Violet Rogers, Natalie Conklin and Masia Conklin, Logan Monaco, Payton Monaco, Jake Monaco and Brendan Monaco and his brother-in-law, Brad Davies.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Conklin in 2008, his sisters, Marjorie McDonald and Janice Davies and his brother-in-law, Duncan McDonald.

There will be a memorial service at 11:45 AM on October 19, 2016 at the Forest Hills Funeral Homes Palm City Chapel. Inurnment and a service will be also held in West Haven, CT at a later date.
