He was the son of Robert M. and Agnes C. (Verhoff) Burgei. On Nov 30, 1974, he married Janet Grone, who survives in Kalida.
Also surviving are two daughters: Michele Barnett, Ottawa, and Lori (Tony) Schmersal, Ottoville; a son Eric, Kalida; a brother, Dennis (Tina), Glandorf; three sisters: Mary Louise (Steven) Coleson, Ottawa, Dorothy (Leo) Schroeder, Glandorf, Joanna (David) Slattman, Continental; and five grandchildren.
Deceased are a son-in-law, Michael Feldman; and a nephew, Brian Schroeder.
A member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida, and the Kalida Knights of Columbus, he had worked for Streacker Tractor Sales, Findlay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida, with Rev. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
