Isaac moved to Courtland, Michigan with his family, and worked on his father's farm for a short time. Later he moved to Bay City, in Eastern Michigan. In 1863 Isaac married Louisa Watson. Isaac was the town treasurer of Bay City in 1869 and the town treasurer 1871 to 1877. In 1868 he purchased the Bay City Eagle a weekly newspaper. In 1870 Issac sold to the Chronicle and spent his last years in Detroit.
