Marylin Brown Chaplin McKee, 89, died peacefully surrounded by her daughters and friends, Sunday, June 25, 2006, at her home in Winchester, Virginia.

Mrs. McKee, the daughter of Bessie M. Jackson Brown and Leon Robinson Brown, was born March 17, 1917 in Gore, Virginia. For twenty-six years, from 1954 to 1980, she was a dedicated employee of Montgomery Wards. She was an active member of Burnt Presbyterian Church, the Heart, Cancer and Diabetic Club, Widow and Widowers and Women of the Moose.

Mrs. McKee was married to Carl Lewis Chaplin from 1942 to 1960 and divorced. For twenty-two years, she was the adored wife of Mr. Harry Gilbert McKee, who died in 1987.

Mrs. McKee was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brothers, Samuel Hunter Brown in 1971 and James Franklin Brown, in 1975. Mrs. McKee’s step brothers and sisters, Mabel DeHaven, Wilson DeHaven, Alexander DeHaven, Harold DeHaven and Charles Lee DeHaven are deceased.

Mrs. McKee is survived by her daughters, Barbara Simpson of Winchester, Virginia and Linda Chaplin of Riverside, California, her grandson, Wade Kerns, her step sisters, Georgia DeHaven Adams and Mary Belle DeHaven, great grandson, Dylan Kerns, and her enduring friends, Ana Lee Russell and Rosalie Roe.

Mrs. McKee was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, wife and friend for whom family and friends were the cornerstone of her life. She will be missed by those she loved and those who loved her.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 PM on Thursday, at Burnt Presbyterian Church with Reverend Susanna Hendy officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends, at a dinner reception at 5:30 PM at Burnt Presbyterian Church, Winchester, Virginia.

Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, Virginia.
