Agnes Louise “Granny” (Burner) England, age 95 a resident of Audra Park Rd. Belington passed away Wednesday October 19, 2016 in the Good Samaritan Center in Belington. She was born January 28, 1921 at Cornstock near Philippi, a daughter of the late Arley R. and Garnet E. (Hudkins) Burner. On December 16, 1939 she was united in marriage to W. Oliver England who preceded her in death on December 21, 2004 after 65 years of marriage.

Agnes is survived by one daughter, Katherine (Chester) White, and one son Lowell (Linda) England all of Belington.

Two granddaughters, Evelyn (Tom) Ash of Sheffield, PA., and Crystal E. Tenney of Belington

Five great grandchildren, William Chester “WC” (Jessie) Thompson, Charles Robert “Chuck” (Dakota) Thompson, Joshua (Jesica) Weese of Washington, PA, Brooke Weese of Belington, Holly Thompson of Whitman Airforce Base in MO.

Three great great-grandchildren, Oliver, Nova and Logan Thompson

Two sisters, Beverly (Dewey) Poe and Jacky (Charles) Malcolm both of Philippi

Several nieces and nephews

She was precede in death by seven brothers, Russell Burner, Brooks Burner, Arley Burner Jr., Donald Burner, David Burner, Gail Burner, and one infant brother Richard Burner.

Four sisters, Christine Jones, Carol Allen, Kathleen Burner, and Judith Burner, one grandson-in-law Alvin P. Tenney.

She attended Schools in Barbour County graduating from Philippi High School in 1938. She was a member of the Grace Chapel United Methodist Church, where she served as delegate to charge conference at Buckhannon for a number of years, and served for 30 years as secretary for the Belington Circuit United Methodist Charge. Also a member of Grace Chapel Ladies Aid, Audra Road Community Center, and was a volunteer member of Belington Emergency Squad as an EMT.

She was active in Church and Community services until becoming disabled. She wrote the Audra Road news for the local newspaper for many years. She was a WV Football Fan and loved to watch the games. Agnes collected angels and pitchers and loved to crochet and give her crochet work to others. She was a homemaker, and loved her family who were all so precious to her. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Friday October 21 from 5-8 pm and on Saturday October 22, from 8 -11 am the service hour with Rev. James “Oz” Gray officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery. In lieu of memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Chapel United Methodist Church 3891 Audra Park Rd. Belington, WV 26250
