volcanic Italian island called Stromboli. My grandfather Bartolo
came here as a very young man to join his brother Antonio.
He left his parents and other siblings behind and never saw them
again. They wrote back and forth regularly.
I have many of the letters which are filled with news from "home".
They also clearly express the longing of parents for their sons
who were so far away.
