Jose Arturo passed away in Los Alamos. He was predeceased by his parents Alfredo Mondragon and Egleseria Chacon Mondragon; his former wife and mother of their two sons, Donne Gonzales; his second wife, Cora Mondragon; adopted son Arthur Mondragon; sisters: Lola Lopez and Clorinda Esquibel; brother Florencio Mondragon; and grandson Eliud Mondragon, Jr.

Jose Arturo was survived by his sons: Eluid Mondragon (companion Ercilia), Pete and Concha Mondragon; sister Benina Rodriquez (husband John); brother Juan Antonio Mondragon (Minnie); grandchildren: Alvin and Jill Mondragon, Pete Mondragon Jr. (Jacquelyn), Tomike Mondragon (Crystal); great-grandchildren: Jonah, Ethan, Veronica, Tanya, Joseph, Cameron, Logan and Autumn Mondragon, Kelsey and Armando Perez; great-great-grandchildren: Serenity Mondragon-Gurule and Oliver Brook Perez; GodSon, Albino Fresquez; and numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

Jose had lived in Grants for many years and worked at the uranium mines and for the City of Grants. He relocated to Santa Fe in 2011.

Funeral services were on 21 Oct 2016 at the Rivera Family Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Grants Memorial Park in Grants with his wife Cora.
