Alex Hunter Foster was born on September 23, 1867 in Tennessee, the son of Thomas Foster and Katherine (Hite) Foster.
He was married to Katie C Brent (1865–1908).
Alex had been a harness maker, but by the time he was 70 years old, he was a widower living at Little Sisters of the Poor Home in Nashville when he died of chronic cardio-nephritis on December 21, 1937. Burial was two days later in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
