Uncle Johnny was four months younger than my mother, Mercedes Marie Mitchell Chop, who died 16 days after Johnny, and almost a year younger than his brother, Tony Chop (my father), who preceded him in death. Uncle Johnny sent me this picture of him and his girlfriend, Julie Rogers, at his birthday dinner at the College Park Airport when he was 86. In addition to my father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Plummer Chop (Johnny took care of her until she died. They had no children); parents, Stanko Cop and Anka Strbrini Cop; a sister, Mary Ann Chop Sanderson Short; and five brothers: Frank M., Josip (Joe), Charles (a survivor of the Bataan Death March), Michael (Mick), and Louis (Lutch). His only living sibling, Adolph, died earlier this year.
